ARCH41010 Heritage Marketing & Management

This unit enables participants to learn management principles in their area of interest and help them to develop basic management skills. In particular, the course focuses on project planning and project management, monitoring and accountability. In addition, it introduces some challenging marketing concepts (e.g. World Heritage Site as a brand) and innovative communication techniques such as promoting a Site via the Internet. Finally, research methods for evaluation and monitoring projects are also provided.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Design and implement project planning and budgeting methods.
- Analyse, interpret and overcome current dilemmas for the management of tourism in protected natural sites.
- Apply marketing, human resources and management techniques for efficient project management.
- Consider the role of internet and other marketing communication tools in the promotion of a protected area.
- Show a grasp of qualitative and quantitative research methods for data collection and analysis.
- Demonstrate effective presentation skills.
