The aim of the Equine Science Project in the Animal Science - Equine degree programme is to enable students to bring learning outcomes from one or a variety of modules in the degree programme together in a coherent manner, into a relevant project of their choice. In particular, the project should aim to address a specific issue of importance to the equine industry and students may reflect on their Equine PWE experiences when deciding on a project topic. Students may select a topic of their own choice provided that it is related in some way to the material of the degree programme and that it has been agreed with the module coordinator. Depending on the project, an appropriate member of the academic staff may be required to supervise the project. A title and appropriate workplan for the project will be agreed with the student. The project will generally be composed of : a Title, Introduction, Objectives, Literature review, Research methodology, Research findings, Interpretation and Conclusions, supported by an associated Reference / Citation list. The project will be submitted to an announced deadline. Students will be required to present the results from their project at the end of the module. Most projects are expected to be hypothesis driven. In some instances the project may take the form of a major literature review, towards hypothesis generation and a reflection of gaps in knowledge in the area researched.
