ANSC30320 Dairy Business Project

Academic Year 2024/2025

This project is a key element in the curriculum and will be in the form of a case study. The aim of the Dairy Business Project module is to enable students to bring learning outcomes from other modules taken in the degree programme together in a coherent manner, and express those learning outcomes through a completed project. In this module students will be paired with a mentor farm and will be responsible for gathering appropriate information from that farm for use in their case study.
The project will cover general information on the mentor farm and will focus on specific topics and financial performance provided. Examples of topics include: grassland management, herd health, animal breeding, fertility and reproduction. An appropriate layout and workplan for the project will be agreed with the module coordinator/supervisor. Students will be required to present their project in a seminar forum in the final week. Some students may be examined on their projects by the external examiner as part of the examination process. Students will maintain regular contact with their supervisor who will assist by reading and commenting on written work and will provide advice and constructive criticism where necessary.
