This course will be students first introduction to anatomical terminology, and will focus on the structure and function of the human upper and lower limbs. Through a series of lectures and practical-based sessions the various contributing elements of the limbs including bones, muscles, nerves and blood vessels will be considered in detail. This module forms part of the core curriculum for the MB BCh BAO degree in medicine.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Recognise and describe structures of the upper & lower limbs including bones, muscles, nerves and blood vessels.
2. Discuss aspects of function and injury to the upper & lower limbs.

Osteology of leg
The knee joint & popliteal fossa
Anterior compartment of the leg
Lateral compartment of the leg
Posterior compartment of the leg
The ankle (talocrural) joint
Intrinsic muscles of the foot
