The module aims to enable students to apply management theory and techniques to address farm decision problems. On successful completion of the module students should be able to: describe the rationale for and process of development of a farm business strategy; prepare and analyse basic farm management accounts; apply key farm planning techniques (partial budgets, whole farm budgets); describe procedures for farm budgetary control; analyse and evaluate management strategies to control risk in farm management decision making.

An introductory module in Business Management such as AERD20030 or equivalent.
Learning Recommendations:Students should have a sound basic understanding of livestock and crop production enterprises common to Irish farms. In particular, this should include knowledge of popular terminolgy relating to farm production enterprises.
