The purpose of management accounting is to assist management in achieving organisational objectives. To do this, management needs to plan, monitor actual performance and take corrective action where necessary. It will also have to make a whole range of decisions, such as pricing, outsourcing, product mix and how to reduce costs. Management accounting information is not solely financial, but includes a range of non-financial measures necessary to monitor the operational performance of the organisation. This course will cover introductory material related to the above.
