About this Course

The MSc in Business and Executive Coaching is a pathway programme based on a framework of selected professional diploma programmes.  It involves completion of two out of three of our business coaching programmes (namely the UCD Professional Diploma in Business & Executive Coaching, the UCD Professional Diploma in Advanced Business & Executive Coaching and the UCD Professional Diploma in Team Coaching) plus any one of the following programmes:



o Professional Diploma in Organisation Change and Transformation (30 ECTS)



o Professional Diploma in Leadership Development (30 ECTS)



o Professional Diploma in Business and Executive Coaching (30 ECTS)



o Professional Diploma in Advanced Business and Executive Coaching (30 ECTS)



o Professional Diploma in Team Coaching (30 ECTS)



By completing three diplomas within a 5-year timeframe, students earn 90 credits (the national standard for a Masters Qualification) and will be conferred with the qualification of MSc in Business and Executive Coaching accredited & awarded by UCD at NFQ Level 9.  



The MSc Business and Executive Coaching builds on the three pillars of the Executive and Advanced Diplomas:  business mindedness, psychological mindedness and coaching mindedness.   This Taught Pathway focuses on deepens knowledge in cognate domains, currently, Organisational Change and Transformation, or Leadership Development (education and subject/discipline/professional values).   The approaches to teaching, learning and assessment are as per the five Diploma programmes already detailed.


1 - Knowledge and analysis of the academic literature relating to your field (PG1).
2 - Deepen expertise in the different theoretical approaches to coaching with the ability to compare and critique the strengths and weaknesses of each approach.
3 - Differentiate the validity of different coaching approaches and styles to particular organisation, team and individual clients.
4 - Advance your professional capacity as a coach through the practice and application of different techniques and approaches.
5 - Gain insights from coaching supervisors to sharpen and refine your practice of coaching.
6 - Undertake client coaching in an informed, ethical and professional manner.
7 - Present a number of assignments and reflective journals reflecting on the impact of your learning in the practice of coaching in your professional environment.
8 - Demonstrate, through the practice of coaching, the expertise and knowledge that is gained from completing the
