Is í an teanga Ghaeilge an chuid is tábhachtaí agus is luachmhaire d'oidhreacht dhúchais an oileáin seo. Eochair í d'eolas ar shinsir ár muintire, agus ar an rian a d'fhág siad ar ár saol laethúil - ár n-ainmneacha, ár sloinnte, ár n-ainmneacha áite, ár n-amhráin, ár nósanna agus ár gcaitheamh aimsire.

Is é is aidhm do na cúrsaí a sholáthraíonn Coláiste na hOllscoile, Baile Átha Cliath, eolas domhain a thabhairt do na mic léinn ar an nGaeilge agus ar an oidhreacht liteartha agus chultúrtha a bhaineann léi. Is í an Ghaeilge gnáth-theanga na Scoile, agus is trí Ghaeilge a dhéantar an teagasc iomlán, mar sin beidh ort cumas áirithe a bheith agat sa teanga ón tús.

Cuireann an Scoil gach cabhair ar fáil do mhic léinn i rith na bliana chun cur lena gcumas i labhairt agus i scríobh na teanga. Bíonn ranganna gramadaí agus comhrá ann agus tá cnuasach ábhar sa Teanglann, idir sheanchas, cheol is amhránaíocht ón uile cheantar Gaeltachta. Lena chois sin, cuirtear cabhair airgid ar fail do mhic léinn chun tréimhse a chaitheamh sa Ghaeltacht.

If you are interested in Irish you will benefit and derive pleasure from this challenging programme. Teaching is conducted through Irish and every facility, including a well-equipped language laboratory, is made available to improve students' competence in speaking, reading and writing Irish. The School operates a special Gaeltacht scholarship scheme.

Students may not progress to Stage 2 unless they have passed IR 10040 Teanga na Gaeilge I and one other option module at Stage 1
