Stage 1

Students are strongly advised to balance their workload evenly across both trimesters by choosing 30 credits per trimester. Students should take the core modules IR10160 Scileanna Teanga & Litríocht and IR10200 Stair agus Litríocht na nÓg plus two option modules in trimester 1. For trimester 2, students should take core modules IR10040 Teanga na Gaeilge I, IR10180 Bunscileanna Aistriúcháin and IR10190 An Ghaeilge Acadúil plus an elective module OR the elective substitution option DSCY10100 Storytelling.

Stage 2

Students are strongly advised to balance their workload evenly across both trimesters by choosing 25 credits per trimester.

Stage 3

Students will have the opportunity to take up any combination of: trimester exchange, internship, Gaeltacht placement or take UCD modules in stage 3. Students who remain in UCD for the full academic year must take 50 credits from the course curriculum plus 10 credits of electives.

Stage 4

Students are pre-registered to the core Tráchtas / Tionscnamh taighde and Research Skills modules (30 credits). Students should also choose 20 credits from the option modules. All students are strongly encouraged to balance their workload evenly across both trimesters i.e. 30 credits per trimester.

Incoming Stage 1 undergraduates can usually select an Elective in the Spring Trimester. Most continuing undergraduate students can select up to two Elective modules (10 Credits) per stage. There is also the possibility to take up to 10 extra Elective credits.
