MIS20090 | Design Thinking | Spring | 5 |
As part of the curriculum, students are engaged with issues related to sustainability in all of its many facets, including responsible leadership, responsible consumption and production, climate action, and inclusive business practices. As educators, we believe in the value of exposing our students to a variety of perspectives on the role of business in society and equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to tackle even the most intractable problems. Our programmes seek to develop informed and imaginative leaders that are mindful of responsible and sustainable business objectives and practices and embrace the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the curriculum.
- Quality education: Promote inclusive and equal opportunities for lifelong learning (SDG4)
- Gender equality: Promote gender equality and empower all women and young girls (SDG5)
- Decent work and economic growth: Promote sustained and inclusive economic growth and employment for all (SDG8)
- Industry, innovation and infrastructure: Build strong infrastructure and sustained industrialisation (SDG9)
- Reduced inequalities: Reduced inequality in all countries (SDG10)
- Sustainable cities and communities: Make all settlements inclusive and safe (SDG11)
- Responsible consumption and production: Ensure suitable consumption and production patterns (SDG12)
I chose BComm for its flexibility. It offers a strong core in business with room to shape my own path. Quinn’s international reputation made the decision easy.
A highlight was my semester abroad at the University of Hong Kong, one of Asia’s top-ranked universities. Adjusting to a new culture and language pushed me well out of my comfort zone. I joined the HKU rugby 7’s team and we won the Hong Kong Rugby Interversities tournament, a proud moment.
My 18-month internship with ROSS Construction in the UK was just as formative. Working across quality, health and safety, payroll and procurement gave me a real feel for how a business runs.
I worked as a Student Ambassador speaking to prospective students about life at Quinn. This was genuinely rewarding.
Andrew Naughton, BComm Student
I choose to study at UCD because it is a truly international, dynamic, and prestigious university with many international students. I felt the Bachelor of Commerce at UCD was the perfect fit for me as I can select from a wide range of business option modules giving me the flexibility to tailor my own degree. Numerous partnerships with local and international companies and the Quinn Internship Programme allow me to acquire practical skills and gain some work experience before graduation, which is extremely valuable for starting a career in the business sector. As an international student, I would say that the most interesting and exciting part of my studies is engaging myself in a culture that is hugely different from mine.
Fangyu Zhang, Commerce Student
I chose to study Commerce because I had always been interested in understanding more about the business world. Apart from learning more about accountancy, I wanted to acquire skills for entrepreneurship and this degree was a perfect fit for me. I took a leap of faith and came to Dublin all the way from India. Three years later I can confidently say that it has been a life-changing journey. UCD opened my eyes to new possibilities through its diverse modules and unprecedented support it provides. I owe my success in securing an internship opportunity with Xilinx and a job offer from Ernst and Young to the skills I have gained through my time here in UCD.”
Avantika Pandey, Bachelor of Commerce
