The UCD Quinn School has a long tradition at the forefront of business and management education in Ireland and internationally. The BSc Business is an exciting new global-focused degree developed by the Quinn School for students aiming to develop the knowledge, skills and intercultural competencies essential in the global world of business and management. This programme offers modules focusing on real-world business skills and intercultural competencies ideal for students considering a career in international business.
About This Course
The BSc Business will help you develop the intellectual, analytical, critical and employability skills you will need to succeed as a leader in careers across different sectors on the global stage.
Through a range of assessment types, innovative group projects and individual coursework, presentations, business simulations and contemporary case studies you will be ready to launch a successful career in any multinational enterprise.
Throughout the degree, students will focus on developing business, professional and intercultural skills while gaining strong professional business skills and building a global mindset. At the end of Stage 2, students have the opportunity to complete a year-long paid industry internship extending their degree to four years. In final year, students can choose to specialise in a specific area of business to tailor their expertise according to their interests and career goals. Alternatively, students can choose to keep their degree broad, covering a range of business modules and providing a comprehensive understanding of the various aspects of business.
In second year students have the opportunity to study abroad at one of our partner business schools. This popular and competitive aspect to your studies takes place during the Spring trimeser and is an optional activity that will add value to your degree. Studying abroad as part of your degree is highly valued by employers as well as the experience of a lifetime. The Quinn School currently have over 70 partner universities in Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, China, Canada and across Europe.
The BSc Business will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in a dynamic global business environment. Our diverse dynamic learning environment produces graduates with a high level of transferable business, interpersonal and intercultural skills and competencies.
During your second year in the BSc Business, you are invited to apply for a place on the Quinn Internship Programme – This year long (9-12 month) placement in an Irish or multinational company is an opportunity to put the theory of what is taught in the classroom into practice and gain valuable experience in a working environment. The year-long paid industry internship takes place after stage two and will extend the degree to a four-year degree.

As part of the curriculum, students are engaged with issues related to sustainability in all of its many facets, including responsible leadership, responsible consumption and production, climate action, and inclusive business practices. As educators, we believe in the value of exposing our students to a variety of perspectives on the role of business in society and equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to tackle even the most intractable problems. Our programmes seek to develop informed and imaginative leaders that are mindful of responsible and sustainable business objectives and practices and embrace the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the curriculum.
- Quality education: Promote inclusive and equal opportunities for lifelong learning (SDG4)
- Gender equality: Promote gender equality and empower all women and young girls (SDG5)
- Decent work and economic growth: Promote sustained and inclusive economic growth and employment for all (SDG8)
- Industry, innovation and infrastructure: Build strong infrastructure and sustained industrialisation (SDG9)
- Reduced inequalities: Reduced inequality in all countries (SDG10)
- Sustainable cities and communities: Make all settlements inclusive and safe (SDG11)
- Responsible consumption and production: Ensure suitable consumption and production patterns (SDG12)
I chose to study BSc Business at UCD because this programme offered the best of both worlds, combining business know-how and travelling, which was everything I sought in a university degree.
Studying here has been eye-opening and awe-inspiring. This programme has imparted me with a globalized, bird’s eye perspective of the industry and its inner functions. The wide variety of multi-national corporations located in Ireland are a key factor of studying here in Dublin - the opportunities are limitless.
