The module is composed of weekly 1-hour scientific article reviews throughout the year. This module is designed to provide students with experience in critiquing peer reviewed scientific publications relevant to their specific discipline in a small group environment supervised by senior academic staff. Each week, up to two published scientific articles will be reviewed and assessed with regard to hypothesis, study design, statistical methods, results, conclusions and significance/relevance. These sessions will advance the students’ ability to critically assess scientific information and to improve their skills in peer review, study design and writing. Each student is required to attend a minimum of 75 % (30) of these sessions and maintain an attendance log detailing the date, scientific article and presenter. They must be fully prepared to engage as presenter on a frequent basis.
