Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module students will be able to:
• Discuss the pathobiology of important pathogens affecting the musculoskeletal and nervous systems of domestic animals, relating this to their clinical presentation
• Outline the typical presentation and clinical signs of common diseases affecting the musculoskeletal and nervous systems of domestic species
• Explain and apply basic principles of pharmacology relevant to drugs used in the musculoskeletal and nervous systems
• Construct differential diagnosis lists appropriate to individual clinical presentations across the domestic species, using this to generate an appropriate investigative plan
• Select and explain the appropriate management plan and treatment for the common diseases affecting the musculoskeletal and nervous systems
• Work effectively as part of a team
• Communicate information relating to animals with musculoskeletal and neurological diseases in a clear, succinct, and professional manner
• Critically reflect on their learning, using this approach to develop metacognitive skills and promote linkage between their prior knowledge and current learning, identifying strategies for success and highlighting areas for further development as they progress towards professional practice and lifelong learning
