Curricular information is subject to change.

This module is a core course in veterinary medicine. It will build on clinical skills from VET30160 (ICMS). In this module students will learn day one practical competencies in dentistry, radiograph positioning, and other clinical skills. Students will also gain knowledge and skills in companion animal neutering. Simulation neutering practicals will also review basic surgical principles from VET30160 such as instrumentation, patient prep, surgeon prep and draping. The module will be delivered in the form of lectures, self-directed learning and practicals. Like the previous ICMS module, students will be expected to come to practicals having reviewed the practical material in advance. There will be ‘self-directed’ learning time in the timetable to reflect this. The practicals will provide time for questions and ‘hands on’ learning. Practical attendance is mandatory.
There will be a graded midterm and end of trimester assessment. This will be a MCQ format. Please note the grading scale for this module will be published on BrightSpace.

***Please check and be aware if this module is a prerequisite (Academic Regulation 3.27(a)) for any future modules.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
This module will be delivered through a combination of lectures, practicals and online learning resources. The practicals will build on skills developed in VET30160 module, and will introduce new clinical skills. All skills will focus on day one competencies. Students are required to come to practicals prepared by reviewing the practical material before the practicals. This will allow for ‘hands on’ learning within the practical, as well as facilitator and peer feedback. Students are required to attend all of the four practicals.
