This module will focus on the role and process of influence in change and transformation intervention. Participants will explore the nature and components of a strategic approach to influence in change situations. These will include identifying and appraising the influencing network; developing focused, meaningful connections; identifying and selecting a range of tactics for persuasion and influence; and addressing the emotional side of change.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, participants should have the capacity to:
• Understand the key components of a strategic approach to influencing in change situations
• Map and develop connections for promoting the formulation and implementation of change
• Appraise and enhance their power as change agents
• Generate a wide range of tactics to influencing change
• Appreciate the emotional skills and emotional intelligence required in change management

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
The module has a detailed study guide. Students are required to complete the module pre-reading or pre-work prior to attending the seminar sessions. The sessions themselves will be a combination of lectures, group discussion, in-class presentations, case study discussions and classroom exercises. A heavy emphasis in the seminars is on teasing out the implications of theory for practical application in a workplace context.’
