Second year graduate entry radiography students will follow a clinical rotation to specific areas related to taught syllabus. By the end of second year, each student will be expected to work competently in all general areas of the Imaging Department, as well as mobile radiography and theatre imaging, under distant supervision. In addition, students should have developed adequate skills to make a useful contribution to clinical practice involving paediatric patients.

Students will also get an opportunity to visit specialist imaging modalities such as Ultrasound, Computed Tomography, MRI, Interventional radiology/angiography and Radionuclide Imaging. Clinical staff will monitor each students progress, assisting with specific difficulties, and helping the individual develop confidence in each area of competency.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

- Competently perform a range of general radiographic examinations, including portable radiography examinations, and adapt radiographic techniques appropriately for various patient presentations under supervision.

- Competently perform single plane theatre imaging under supervision.

- Select, justify and optimise appropriate projections and techniques for a range of commonly encountered clinical indications and patient presentations ensuring appropriate radiation protective measures are applied.

- Apply a logical system to the assessment of radiographic images for the x-ray examinations, fluoroscopy examinations and theatre imaging taught in Practice of Radiography 1, 2, 3 and 4.

- Demonstration professionalism, effective teamwork and communication in all interactions with patients and clinical staff as per clinical policy.
