The aim of this module is to introduce theories and practice associated with successful development of rural enterprises. Specifically, the course discusses institutional environment (e.g., policy and labour markets), business opportunities (e.g. idea generation, business plans) and details of enterprise start-up (e.g., finance).

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module, you should be able to:
• Examine a theoretically and culturally diverse range of relevant bodies of literature and research related to rural enterprise
Critically review the Irish, European and global policy context underpinning the development of rural enterprise
Critically reflect on how one's own cultural context influences the qualities and characteristics the drive entrepreneurship
Critically evaluate the role and performance of key stakeholders in fostering the development of rural enterprise in different contexts
