This module will comprise six seminars of 1.5 hours duration each. The learning will occur in weekly lectures/seminars and will be based on relevant prescribed readings. In this module students will be invited to think about ways in which the full range of practice frameworks within the systemic family therapy tradition have their basis in Social and Cultural Contexts. Students will revisit and re-examine a number of key readings within the tradition from this perspective. The module will also focus on the ethical underpinnings of both knowledge production and knowledge use in Systemic Psychotherapy practice.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students will have: (1) An understanding of and ability to manage effectively, the complexities of ethical clinical practice. (2) An ability to identify the social, cultural and contextual influences on the production of theoretical knowledge. (3) The capacity to identify, describe and integrate contextual influences on clinical and theoretical issues.
