This module provides an opportunity in a group setting to explore and think about and work with the dynamics and the skills that support analytic group work practice. Analytic group work practice includes dynamic administration, managing boundaries and a recognition of unconscious processes as they begin to emerge and influence group work. Trainees will also have the opportunity to consider the role of group leader and become more attuned the dynamics of group membership.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this modules students will:
• Recognise the significance of group processes and group boundaries on group life.
• Attune to the various roles within groups and their impact on individuals and the group.
• Explore group work skills necessary in considering the establishment of groups.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Students will participate in a group learning experiential context where they will have the opportunity to engage in a theory, role play, small group discussion and large group dialogue.
