Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion the student will be able to:
1) Demonstrate an understanding of key psychoanalytic texts and their clinical applicability 2) Become proficient in articulating their practice in writing 3) Have the necessary communication skills to represent to colleagues from different practice positions what is involved in the practice of Freudian-Lacanian psychoanalytic psychotherapy
Indicative Module Content:
The student addresses the question: what it is to practice psychoanalytically? In other words, the task is to specify the particularity of psychoanalytic practice. The strategy for this is:
Identify a question arising from your practice
Select a text or two from the psychoanalytic literature which you believe will assist you in responding to the question
Provide a close reading of the text
Indicate how it has a relevance for your clinical practice
A reader of your Clinical Paper must be very clear that it has been written by a psychoanalytic practitioner with a clinical question about their practice. It is in the hands of the writer of the paper how to represent this crucial aspect.
