Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this module students should:
1. Achieve the competencies set out in the Clinical Placement Assessment Form, Level 1
2. Formulate and evaluate learning objectives and operate within a professional clinical environment.
3. Understand the importance of informed consent and demonstrate ability to gain informed consent prior to service user
assessments and treatments.
4. Show development of clinical assessment, planning and treatment skills.
5. Show development of professional behaviours and responsibilities and demonstrate personal responsibility for student’s own learning and professional practice.
6. Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained always maintained.
7. Demonstrate appropriate and effective verbal and written communication skills such as providing patients with clear advice/instruction, participating in multidisciplinary patient management and ensuring accurate documentation of physiotherapy assessment and treatment in patient records.
8. Demonstrate regular use of outcome measures and evaluation of the efficacy of treatment interventions.
9. Engage in reflection and evaluation of practice

Clinical practice on placement varies depending on the specialties available on site.
Clinical practice assessment is determined by the Physiotherapy Clinical Placement Assessment Form under the 3 headings - Assessment & Management, Professionalism, Documentation / Communication.
The portfolio includes the reflective practice assignment, the evidence based clinical reasoning form & unplanned learning activities.
