Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this module students should be able to:
Develop and advise on the implementation of emergency response systems and procedures.
Apply knowledge of the physics and chemistry of fire, and its relevance to fire protection and prevention strategies to carry out a fire risk assessment as part of an SMS.
Utilise knowledge of the nature of electricity, the fundamental measuring units and their relationships to explain how electrical installations and transformers can constitute an occupational risk and apply that knowledge to an electrical hazard risk assessment and management system.
Apply the main elements of health and safety technology, including safe maintenance procedures, to safeguarding dangerous parts of machinery, safe construction practice and providing a safe place of work.
Develop and advise on the implementation of procedures for minimising the risks to workers and work equipment in a variety of contexts.
Demonstrate awareness of relevant legislation, codes of practice and standards.
The learning outcomes of this module are consistent with achieving the objectives of SDG 3 Good Health and SDG 8 Decent Work from an occupational health and wellbeing perspective.
