This module facilitates students to develop professional and OSH career skills through individual and group activities. Students select work-based and professional activities from their own practice, which show a) evidence of continuing professional development in their work setting, and b) that they can connect their learning on HDipSHWW modules to the work of an OSH professional. Students undertake activities that will enable them to undertake personal professional development.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the module the student should be able:

-To identify work-based learning opportunities

-To demonstrate work-based learning, which captures a range of activities that contribute to the student's development as an OSH professional, including some of the following:

Preparing an up-to-date professional CV
Delivering a professional presentation
Reflecting on a multidisciplinary OSH dilemma

The learning outcomes of this module are consistent with achieving the objectives of SDG 4 Quality Education as this module contributes to fostering an inclusive and equitable education that promotes lifelong learning for all.

CV preparation and mock job interview, Problem Based Learning, group work, group presentation.

Requirements, Exclusions and Recommendations
Learning Requirements:

Students must be aged over 23 years, be employed and have at least 3 years work experience. This module contains work-based assignments and if students are not working, they will be unable to meet the credit requirements.

Learning Recommendations:

Students should be engaged in OSH in their workplace.

How will my Feedback be Delivered?

Student will receive a provisional individual grade in Brightspace within 20 working days of the submission date of the assignment (A, B, C etc. as per UCD grade descriptors). The grade will contribute to the student final’s grade for the module. Each student will receive an assignment feedback sheet on Brightspace.
