This module will enable you to apply their knowledge, skills and understanding of specialist theory to patient care, and will require participants to demonstrate competency within their area of specialist practice (Colorectal Nursing).

Repeat assessment on this module means that a student will have one opportunity to undertake the module after the first fail grade has been submitted to the Programme Exam Board.

The timeframe for the repeat assessment will be a one trimester clinical placement in the trimester following the original trimester offering.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Clinical assessment feedback is provided by clinical assessors and feedback on theoretical components is provided by the programme director.

Requirements, Exclusions and Recommendations
Learning Requirements:

Completion of level 8 (UCD 3) modules or equivalent (Consideration of application for prior experiential learning (RPEL) if no degree)

•Registration with NMBI as a Registered General Nurse (RGN)
•Minimum of one year’s experience in colorectal nursing
• Must work a minimum of 75 hours per month in a cancer unit or related cancer setting (caring for patients with colorectal cancer) prior to commencing, and for the duration of the programme.
