Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Describe the epidemiology and pathophysiology and the unique anatomical and physiological characteristics in relation to breathing, circulation and genito-urinary in children.
2. Using a case study and a systematic approach to nursing care, construct a nursing assessment to facilitate the identification of actual/potential problems for the child/family relevant to conditions within the module.
3. Create a nursing care plan encompassing nursing goals, interventions and appropriate principles of nursing to demonstrate an understanding of caring for a child who is critically/acutely ill with compromised function of the respiratory, cardiovascular and genito-urinary systems.
4. Demonstrate the ability to perform a systematic clinical assessment of critically/acutely ill and/or deteriorating child to inform evidence-based clinical decisions pertaining to treatment and nursing care.
