***This module is part of the Professional Certificate in Digital Facility Layout Planning and a pre-requisite to the MEEN41460 Practical Case Application module. This means this module is not available to wider UCD students and is dedicated only to the learners who register for this Professional Certificate.

This module comprises three main topics, listed below, which are all delivered fully online via EITM (European Institute of Innovation and Technology - Manufacturing) Skillsmove.eu virtual learning environment (VLE). Each of these topics is delivered as a Learning Path on skillsmove.eu VLE and participants of the Professional Certificate will gain access to them once registered to the module.

1. Facility Layout Planning Theory and Commonly Used Techniques
The topic of this learning path is driven by the general topic of manufacturing system design with a focus on Facility Layout Planning and optimization of manual operations in the workplace. Through learning nuggets and question assignments the participant will be informed regarding Facility Layout Planning practices and techniques, methodologies of lean manufacturing, as well as ergonomic evaluation tools that aim to improve the working conditions for manual workstations.

2. Facility Layout Planning focusing on Robotics and Machinery Safety
Through learning nuggets and question assignments the participant will get information regarding Facility Layout Planning practices, the installation of robots and machinery at industrial workplaces, and several safety considerations will be presented related to machinery installation.

3. Cloud-based Facility Layout Plan Optimisation
Throughout this learning path, users will learn about manufacturing facility plans as well as the necessary knowledge about describing the requirements for manufacturing facility plan optimisation. Also, they will learn how to use the Facility Layout Planning optimization software solution.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:
