This module addresses the design principles for the basic elements of a product or service operation, from raw materials and resources, through transformation processes, to the final customer. Elements will include transformation, process design and manufacturing, facility layout and flow, job design, material and resource planning, inventory, logistics and supply chain management, quality control tools, service and production scheduling and control, process problem solving, and process reliability.
Particular emphasis is given to modern Information Technology platforms, as well as to digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0 concepts and technologies that are used in modern engineering and business settings.
