This module forms part of the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Trials. The goal of this module is to provide an overview of clinical trials from idea to completion, with specific reference to trial design considerations
• Introduce the different types of clinical trial
• Explain the study designs used in clinical trials
• Understand how populations are selected and control groups used
• Understand the importance of endpoints and how these are analysed
• Understand the process of drug development, including discovery, preclinical testing and clinical trials

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this course students will demonstrate advanced knowledge of clinical trials.
Specifically, students will be able to:
• Understand clinical trial principles, including study design
• Understand regulatory and legal environment in which clinical trials are completed
• Analyse the design of clinical trials and the populations used
• Assess the suitability of the endpoints employed in clinical trials
• Understand how emerging designs are directly enhancing clinical trials
