This module builds on the ‘Introduction to Psychotherapeutic Models’ module delivered in year one of the Child Art Psychotherapy programme. Key concepts of psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic models are taught offering a wider and more detailed understanding of these along with ongoing developments in psychotherapy theory and practice. Human development from a psychological, psychoanalytic and psychodynamic perspective are explored focusing on the various stages of development from infancy through to late adolescence. The delivery of the module further develops students understanding of core theories and concepts central to psychotherapeutic work with children and adolescents in the context of Child Art Psychotherapy.
100% attendance at course lectures and workshops is expected, but 80% attendance is the minimum attendance required to achieve credit for the module. Absences must be discussed with the module coordinator or course lecturers, who will require supporting documentation (e.g. medical certificates). Students who miss part of the module may be asked to do a further piece of work in remediation.
