MDCS30060 Thesis Dissertation

Academic Year 2024/2025

Students will submit an 6,000 word dissertation following the end of the teaching component of the Higher Diploma.
In preparation, they will be expected to have developed a robust dissertation proposal by the end of February. Students will carry out a literature search and will have an overall structure for the thesis by late April. Direction for the thesis will be provided by a thesis supervisor, who will be one of the contributors to the programme or another recognised supervisor.
The thesis will be submitted in the third trimester, date of submission will be provided at the start of the Academic Year.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Situate their research in the context of the ethical, logistical and epistemological issues involved in research in the field of psychotherapy;
2. Formulate, present and develop a dissertation proposal;
3. Write up a scholarly dissertation of 6,000 words
4. Situate their research in the context of psychotherapy in Ireland
5. Apply appropriate methodology to their research.
