This module is an introduction to mathematical analysis and differential calculus, with applications to finance. It will begin with an introduction to mathematical reasoning and will cover important concepts from analysis including functions, real numbers, differentiability and continuity, convergence, sequences and series. Topics from finance to be discussed include interest rates.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Analyse mathematical problems.
2. Develop valid mathematical arguments in a precise and rigorous way.
3. Formulate a financial problem mathematically.
