On successful completion of this module the student should be able to: carry out arithmetic and algebraic manipulations and computations; solve linear, quadratic and simultaneous equations; sketch and interpret graphs of functions; and, find derivatives of functions.

Students who did not achieve a minimum grade O1 or H5 in Leaving Certificate Mathematics (GCSE, Grade A; A-Level, Grade D) must take MATH00010 in addition to other required Mathematics modules.
Students who wish to study Economics (but not Mathematics or Statistics) and who achieved less than an O3 or H7 in Leaving Certificate Mathematics (or equivalent) must take MATH00010.
No student who has achieved a minimum grade O1 or H5 in Leaving Certificate Mathematics (GCSE, Grade A; or A-Level, Grade D) is permitted to take MATH00010.
No student who has taken or is taking one of the following modules is permitted to take this module: MATH10030, MATH10040, MATH10300, MATH10330, MATH10050, MATH10260, MATH10270, MATH10280, MATH10120, MST10010, MST10030, MST00050.
No student in Stage 2 or above is permitted to take MATH00010 without permission of the module coordinator.

For the class tests, you will receive your marked test back during your tutorial in the following week. The lecturer and/or the tutors will give general feedback on the class tests if there was a particular point that a lot of the class had trouble with. The solutions to the class tests will be posted on Brightspace. For the Numbas exams, you will receive online automated feedback, including worked solutions.
