Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the module students should be able to:
* correctly categorize and analyse constitutional and human rights and claims made in relation to them
* recognize the relevant issues in a problem question on this topic and make relevant arguments in relation to solutions to it
* discuss the development of this part of Irish constitutional law in its historical, social and cultural context
* formulate and evaluate arguments about the role of this part of Irish constitutional law in politics and society and changes that may be appropriate in that respect
Indicative Module Content:
Students will examine the main fundamental rights that are protected under the Constitution of Ireland, related rights under the European Convention on Human Rights and the role of courts and other institutions in protecting them.
