The purpose of this module is to look at the various vitiating factors that might apply to a contract. It then goes on to consider the various remedies available where there has been a breach of contract.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students should be able to identify, explain and apply the basic principles of law in relation to the formation of a contract. Students will also consider the likely contents of the contract. In particular students should have developed an ability to analyse factual situations and determine the relevant principles of contract law that are applicable to the resolution of problems raised. They should be able to support their answers by reference to relevant case law and statute. As postgraduates, students should be able to discuss and analyse the central doctrines of the modern law of contract and to reflect upon the principal controversies associated with these doctrines.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
