This 5-credit module builds on the knowledge and skills established in Property Law I. Students will acquire knowledge in property law and further develop their doctrinal, theoretical and analytical skills.

Students will examine the law relating to discrete areas of Property Law, including mortgages, easements, freehold covenants, co-ownership and landlord and tenant. The module is delivered via lectures and tutorials for which students prepare using the materials provided on Brightspace. These weekly sessions will be interactive and students are expected to be fully prepared. Students will also have 4 tutorials throughout the trimester.

The end-of-semester assessment will be an exam worth 100%, graded in accordance with the UCD Grade Descriptors.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this module, a successful student will be able to:

b) Continue to develop skills of reflecting on and analysing the extent to which a seemingly 'private' area of law (i.e. real property) has distinct roles in communicating public policy
c) Describe, discuss and critique the ways in which property law appears to treat commercial and residential property differently
