This module explores current and emerging topics in Library and Information Studies (LIS). Each offering of the module will focus on a single topic, for example health information and health sciences librarianship, legal librarianship, AI in the public library, children in the school and public library, etc. Taught by librarians and information professionals who are experts with a given topic and who are working in the field, the module will support students as they prepare to transition to the workplace, by engaging meaningfully with critical subjects and working professionals.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

1. To delve into the characteristics, challenges, and role of LIS professionals around an emerging and/or current professional topic.
2. To appreciate ongoing and new developments in the field of LIS.
3. To engage in professional activities to acquire and to be able to enact skills around a given topic in the workplace.

Indicative Module Content:

This module will be taught by various information professionals who teach the module for a given trimester because they have a specialism in a professionally relevant and timely topic.

Potential topics for offerings of the module include:
