The module will examine key ideas and developments about information and communication across cultures and societies and ask students to think critically about the social, cultural, political, economic, and technological aspects of the role and significance of information and communication technologies.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of theoretical and methodological approaches to
information and communication technologies.
2. Research and appraise the role and significance of information and communication
technologies in contemporary society.
3. Identify current topics and historical trends in information and society.
4. Discuss the social, political, and cultural consequences of digital information and
communication systems.
