This modules is designed to guide students towards an understanding of the major theoretical, practical and public policy debates in the field of employment relations. The module is organised around a series of themes including: conflict and cooperation; current debates in Human Resource Management; the dynamics of power and resistance in the workplace; corporate governance and employment relations; and the role of the legal and institutional framework in addressing both economic efficiency and social equity.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completing this module, students should be able to: Identify and evaluate a range of perspectives on industrial relations and HRM; Describe and discuss the historical development and current context of industrial relations and HRM; Critically analyse contemporary debates in the areas examined; Display high-level critical thinking skills in written work and the ability to construct a sound argument based on a wide reading of the academic literature.
