Effective human resource management is now understood to be a significant contributor to business success. The purpose of this module is to inform how you think and act strategically in the area of human resource management. The module examines the strategic options available in the main areas of human resource management: voice, rewards, the management of staff flows and work organization. It considers how options in these areas can be combined into overall human resource strategies and examines how human resource strategies and the human resource management function can be aligned with the overall business strategy of the organisation. On completing the module you will have a better understanding of the role of human resource strategy in supporting business/organizational strategy.

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of the course you will be able to:
1. Critically understand and assess strategic human resource options;
2. Understand key issues arising in the alignment of HR strategies with organizational objectives;
3. Understand the role of human resource management in organization.
