This module is the first stage of an introduction to ancient Greek which is designed for complete beginners. The textbook is Reading Greek (2nd edition, 2 vols., Cambridge University Press). Students read adapted Greek from the start, as well as doing language exercises. The module also provides an introduction to ancient Greek culture, especially 5th- and 4th-century Athens.
