The course is designed to introduce undergraduate students to contemporary approaches and paradigms in the field of molecular biology. The course will include lectures, in-class discussions of primary literature and oral presentations. Evaluations will include discussions, quizzes, and oral presentations. Students will be exposed to results and ideas too recent to be included in textbooks. In addition, they will see how previously published work forms the foundation for today's experiments, and experience the excitement and interest of a scientific community.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

• Know the essential contents in central dogma and the regulations of gene expression.
• Understand the basic concepts and brief history of Molecular Biology.
• Know the new research progress in Molecular Biology
• Research, plan and write an essay on a topic of general interest in Molecular Biology.
• Get the ability to design the research program according to students’ interest.
