GDIC3026K Food Additives module is delivered by Muwen Lu, SCAU module coordinator.

The course food additives is designed for students who are undertaking dual undergraduate degree programmes at Guangzhou-Dublin International College. The module specifically aims to develop students’ academic English skills and enable students to master the definition, variety, classification of food additives in China and their beneficial role in the food industry.

Classes are taught in small groups. In addition to enable students to fully understand the safe use of food additives, classroom activities such as independent marketing research and presentations will support the development of their academic study competences and independent language learning strategies. Students will often be expected to work collaboratively in class.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:
• enable students to fully understand the safe use of food additives and China's health management measures for food additives.
• to master the properties, functions, application methods and hygienic standards of various commonly used food additives
• understanding their action mechanism of common food additives.
• enable students to understand the production, application status and development trend of food additives in China.
