Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:
• describe the concepts and principles of breeding, formulate breeding objective according to specific horticultural plants.
• rationally utilize the germplasm resource, preventive measures for conservation and evaluation.
• interpret how plant breeding, advantages and disadvantages of introduction, selection, hybridization, mutation, ploidy breeding and their application according to specific short-term and long-term goals.
• apply traditional and non-conventional breeding methods for the enhancement of horticultural plants.
• design and present strategies for variety propagation for asexual and sexual horticultural plants.
