Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to identify and describe key jobs/roles in film production, exhibition, and distribution.
Students will be able to define the job of film programming and its importance to the film industry. They will execute (with a group) their own short programme.
Students will develop collaborative working skills, written and oral communication skills, visual analysis skills.
Students will have a rich understanding of the Irish film industry, including elements they may not have been familiar with like producing, programming, and exhibition.
Indicative Module Content:
Final group projects will be presented in a 2-hour session Week 12. For both these weeks, students should plan additional time accordingly.
Each week, students will watch an assigned film before the lecture session, which will take the format of an interview or presentation from a film industry professional. Indicative topics may include: screenwriting, directing, documentary making, exhibition, producing, development, programming, criticism, editing, distribution, etc.
