This module is about helping PhD candidates develop their own research profile and prepare them to move from being a PhD candidate into a successful research career. It will provide PhD candidates with an understanding of the research environment and institutional / government priorities associated with delivering high-quality research (e.g. Impact). It will seek to improve PhD candidates understanding of the publishing process and various factors to consider in publishing. It will outline the different mechanisms for communicating research outcomes – such as conferences, workshops, journals articles, responding to public consultations etc and the importance of establishing a research profile and building a network of contacts, as you seek to develop a research career.
