Curricular information is subject to change.

The objective is to give students a rigorous training in the planning, execution and write-up of a research project relating to an environmental issue. Each student will be assigned a research project and provided an academic supervisor that will guide the research process. Depending on the research topic students should be exposed to designing a research project, conducting the sampling, processing the samples, capturing and analysing the data and writing up a thesis similar to a peer reviewed scientific paper. During the planning and design and write up students will learn how to critically analyse sources of scientific information and develop their report writing skills.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the thesis students should be able to: design a research project, organise and manage a work programme efficiently, carry out a comprehensive review of scientific literature, describe and apply the required scientific methods, undertake data analyses and write a scientific report (thesis). Students should also learn how to interact with research and academic staff developing their communication skills.
