Students will complete a work placement for a period of 6 to 8 weeks in an outside organisation/agency/industry that services the environmental sector. During the placement students will be exposed to current environmental issues in a professional working environment. During the placement one environmental issue pertinent to the host will be studied in some depth. Once the placement is complete, the reviewed topic will be presented to an audience. During the placement reflective journals will be completed.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

The students will gain work experience in an outside organisation/agency/industry that deals with environmental issues. The students will also present a review of their chosen topic and detail their experience during the placement to academic and also outside agency/industry partners. Reflective journals completed during placement provide an opportunity to identify further industry relevant skills that require development.

Indicative Module Content:

A 6 to 8 week placement will be completed with a host organsiation that services the environmental industry. Activities completed will be relevant to the organisation providing the placement (e.g. environmental consultancies, government agencies and local authorities).

Learning will take place during the placement and usually includes most of the following: active/task-based learning; peer and group work; reflective learning; enquiry & problem-based learning; student presentations, report writing.
