Curricular information is subject to change.

This module is designed to introduce students to new work by contemporary poets, exploring strategies for reading recent texts within the context of a Dublin poetry community. Central to this module is attendance at the public seminar series, ‘How to Read a Poem’, which will be convened in Spring 2025 by Ireland Professor of Poetry, Paul Muldoon. The series will examine a selection of recently published poems, inviting participants to explore these texts in detail. Seminars will be delivered by Paul Muldoon at the Museum of Literature Ireland and supplemented by sessions led by the course lecturers. These on-campus meetings will explore close reading practices and invite reflection on key poets and themes approached in the seminars, as well as discussing the place of poetry within the public humanities in Ireland.
