This module will introduce students to basic aspects of Early Irish grammar, phonology, orthography and syntax. Students will develop a basic vocabulary including nouns, verbs and prepositions through the completion of graded exercises. Previous experience of learning languages would be an advantage.

1. This module will introduce students to basic aspects of Early Irish grammar, phonology, orthography and syntax. 1. understand the orthography of Early Irish

2. deploy a simple basic vocabulary of nouns, verbs and prepositions

3. identify the basic grammatical terms used in the description of Early Irish

4. translate simple sentences from Early Irish into English
