Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this module, students will be enabled to:
1. Identify and evaluate the programmes currently developed for SPHE at Junior Cycle.
2. Discuss the benefits of using ground rules in class and the limits to confidentiality re: child protection.
3. Review current provision for learning in wellbeing and plan teaching and learning within a school’s Wellbeing Programme. Use the relevant indicators to embed wellbeing in all SPHE lessons.
4. Use a planning framework to develop units of work incorporating specific learning outcomes, assessment and linking with the wellbeing indicators.
5. Identify and create resources relevant to the programme and apply the experiential learning cycle which is the basis of SPHE and ensures that students actively participate in their own learning.
6. Design lesson plans that reflect a variety of teaching, learning, active methodologies, differentiation, ongoing assessment, and reflection aligned with relevant programme content.
7. Reflect on the learning experience from both the student and teacher perspective.
